Howard Krook Obituary
Howard Oliver Krook, 74, Ashwaubenon, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 after a courageous 10 year battle with cancer. Howard was born on March 27, 1942 in Ishpeming, Mich. to Oliver H. and Esther A. (Kangas) Krook. He graduated from Negaunee Mich. Schools and Michigan Tech with a Professional Engineering degree. He worked at Coppers Company making laminate before working for the Department of Transportation in Peshtigo, Rhinelander, Superior and Green Bay doing road design, surveying and construction before deciding on bridge inspecting and maintenance. He enjoyed the many facets of his job. He retired in January 2001.
Howard was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks, and Professional Engineers. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and hunting. Mostly, Howard loved spending time at his family cabin in Michigan with his family and friends.
Howard is survived by his wife, Sue (Dietzler) Krook; and their children, Rebecca (Scott) Dixon, Rachel (Dan) Nyberg, Howard (Sara) Krook, Jennie (Lon) Jaskie, Judy (Ed) Bloomquist; twelve grandchildren, Taylor, Maddie, Anna, Emily, Mitchell, Ian, Evan, Josh, Nate, Sean, Lindsey, and Zoey; one great-granddaughter, Claire. He is further survived by his sisters, Annette (Ed) Jachimski and Shirley (Jerry) Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two uncles, Pat Krook and Wilho Kangas and two aunts, Ellie Wigg and Viola Linna.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30. A Memorial Service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at the funeral home. I enjoyed my years working with Howard in Green Bay. He had a great laugh and good stories about his "sowna" (sauna to the rest of us) and his cottage in the UP. He was a sweetheart who loved his family dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with his family today.

Sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Krook Growing up I remember his laugh and very fond memories of fishing, especially how he would leave the northerns in the snow bank until the next morning to clean. Howard was a great mentor to me in my younger years with the Department. He always enjoyed and usually hosted the after conference meeting in his hotel room. My deepest sympathy to the family at your loss.

Very sad to hear of Howard's passing. We were desk mates for many years in the DOT office at Rhinelander. Many wonderful memories of days spent ice fishing with Howard.
He was a great friend and I wish his family comfort in their loss.

Our sincere sympathy to the family of Howard Krook. I went to Negaunee High School with Howie - he was a year behind me. We played football together and he was just a "great" friend. We were hoping to get together when my wife and I visited her family in Green Bay but regretfully that time never came.
