Janet Scheer Obituary

Scheer, Janet

Janet Ruth Erickson Scheer, 96, De Pere, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at a local nursing home with her daughter Victoria by her bedside. The daughter of David and Jenny (Nelson) Erickson was born June 23, 1916 in Green Bay, WI. Janet met and married the love of her life, Robert Scheer, on Sept. 7, 1940 at the West Side Moravian Church in Green Bay. Janet was a stay at home mom who was very involved with her family, friends and church. She loved talking religion, politics (especially about the time Bill Clinton shook her hand while campaigning in Green Bay during his presidential run), history (especially Green Bay history) and the Packers. For many years, she was an active member of the First United Presbyterian Church, De Pere, bible study and PEO. She was well known for being a great cook and baker, especially her pineapple upside down cake and chocolate cake with boiled frosting. She also loved to antique and travel with Bob while he worked. In her 80's, she toured Europe. Janet enjoyed playing the organ and piano for everyone, especially during the holidays. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to many bridge clubs. But most of all, Janet loved to talk about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proud of them all and what they had accomplished in their lives.

Janet is survived by her 3 children: Victoria Ludwig, Kewaunee, and her family, Franz Ludwig; Erik (Janeen) Ludwig and their children June and Joy; Lizbeth (Anton) Wingstedt and their children Brittany (Jeremy) Goffard and Jeremiah Wingstedt; daughter Claudia Lambert, Colorado Springs, CO, and her family Hans Tyler Lambert, Egan Lambert and Micah Lambert; son David (Nancy) Scheer, Green Bay; sister-in-law Caroline Erickson, Virginia and her family, Mark Erickson and Royce (Glenna) Erickson and their son Paul; and many other cherished family and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her brother Paul Erickson, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Doty Scheer and Floyd and Ruth Scheer.

Family and friends may call at Christ Alone Church, 505 E. Allouez Avenue, Green Bay, on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 11am-12pm. Funeral Service at 12 noon, at the church, with the Rev. Dr. Ted Tromble officiating. Burial of cremains will be in the West Side Moravian Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Janet's name.

The family would like to thank everyone who visited Janet during her stays at Santa Maria and Woodside nursing homes, Hospice for their care and concern and to the nursing homes for their patience and loving care.

Our friend Janet(2nd Mom) was a vibrant, good hearted woman, funny without meaning to be. Janet loved her children and grandchildren and also her great grandchildren. Told each of them at one time that they were her favorite. Janet had faith in God and that faith was woven into her life. Thank you Janet for sharing your life with us.We were inspired by the quality of your character and strength.
True peace and love will be with you forever. We will miss you. Love, Nancy & Leigh Morris

So sorry to hear of Cousin Janet's death. She is a part of family history never to be forgotten. I remember visits to her home to see Aunt Tilly as well as her visits [in more recent years as they aged] to talk with Aunt Kay and my mom, Doris. Blessings to you at this time. Cousin Linda

Vicki, Claudia and Family,
I was so sad to read the news about Janet, my Aunt, in the Press-Gazette this morning. I kept her picture on my refrigerator and thought of her eveyday. I truly admired her zest for life. It was always so much fun to be with her. I always loved to go to her apartment in DePere to hear all the great family stories, especially the stories about my dad, Salem Laflin and her mother, Aunt Tilley. I am always reminded of Janet when I see a Moravian cookies. She loved those cookies. I will continue to look at her picture everyday and remember how lucky I have been to be apart of her life. I wish I could be there for you Vickie and Claudia but will not return to Fish Creek until Christmas. My thoughts, prayers and love are with you and your families. Love, Molly
