John Jacobs Obituary

John J. "Jake" Jacobs

Chaska - Jake Jacobs passed away peacefully at home on the morning of October 9th, 2018. He lived a life we should all be so lucky to live. Growing up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, he graduated from Premontre High School in 1957. He had good friends and good times in Green Bay. He joined the Navy after school and was recruited by IBM before his honorable discharge in 1963. He loved his work with IBM, starting as a systems engineer and growing into managerial positions in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. After his retirement he continued the work he enjoyed as an independent consultant, making more good friends along the way.

He was happily married to his best friend for over 56 years, an outstanding father to four children and a loving grandfather to eight. In retirement, he supported his wife's genealogy hobby, most notably through his valuable contributions to the Oconto County Genealogical Society. His life-long passion was fishing. He first fished with his Grandma Rose off the dock on the bay, then with friends in bass clubs, his sons, and eventually with his own grandchildren on the Oconto River. His friends and family will remember him as a brilliant man, loving husband, fine fisherman and an honest human being.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald J. and Mildred "Biddy" (DeBrue) Jacobs and step-father Delbert J. Greenwood, and his sisters Nancy Milbach and Linda Gospodarek. He is survived by his loving wife Connie (Neverman) Jacobs, his children Anastasia Jacobs, Christine (Steve) Connelly, Donald Jacobs (Carrie Drephal), Jason (Ally) Jacobs, and his grandchildren Shane, Ryan and Kyle Connelly, Nyla Jacobs, and Aiden, Cole, Cooper and Rory Jacobs.

His family is eternally grateful for the angelic care given to him by the Park Nicollet Hospice team, with special thanks to Melissa. Friends or family wishing to remember Jake can donate in his name to Guardian Angels Catholic Church Capital Fund, 215 West Second Street, Chaska, MN 55318.

Oh what memories from those carefree days out on
"Edgewater Beach Road". The never-ending Bridge games, The party moving back and forth from Bill's to Dud & Nadine's, and the stories, and food.
God gave us memories so we could smell the Lilacs in January.
We wish you all, Love of Family and Friends and Gods Peace in your hearts..... Jean & Jim Stoker.
