John Warden Obituary

John Warden

John Christopher Matthew Warden of Lakewood WI went home to the Lord on Feb. 21, 2013. John Warden is with Christ Who promises His children, "Absent from the body, present with the Lord."

John received a lung transplant in 2005. To help us with the cost our family, and friends and surrounding communities held a benefit for he and Pam. They and their family always will remember the kindness. After the transplant there were many trips back and forth to Madison, there were a few times where they had just arrived home in Lakewood and had to turn around and head back down. Throughout all of the pain John remained faithful and JOYFUL in the Lord and he did that to his last breath. "With peace that passes all understanding." During the five years he was given from the transplant he and Pam enjoyed visiting with their children and attending church at Northwoods Bible Fellowship in Lakewood, WI where they have lived for 40 years. John established a wholesale business with Pam's art and they began to travel around the country to trade shows, the last being the World Trade Center in Dallas, TX. It quickly became a growing business until John went into chronic rejection, their business came to a standstill.

John and Pam have been lifelong members of the Bible church in Lakewood where John was an Elder who served and dearly loved the congregation with all of his heart and his friends there loved him back as well.

Pam has been the sole caregiver for John while he was in Hospice at our home. Many people were by their side helping in any way they could. The list would be long too name everyone, a special thanks to, Scott VanLaanen, Gordon Brushwyler, Gus Ligler, Jeff Rugotska,Edie Ehrich, Carol Brushwyeler, Cathy VanLaanen, and Karen Rugotska. The list is so long and we thank every one of you more than you can ever know. Liz and Norm Pagel were always seeing to the pantry shelf needs, and treats, helped financially, made sure that Pam had her Coke to drink and kept her "Nurse's" eye, (RN) on her brother. . We thank the Lord for all of you who've been a source of comfort in our lives. John and Pam continued to minister to others through this time. John was in hospice for almost 3 years, we developed a loving "family" with the staff. Special thank you's to, Patty, Sarah, Tami, Dr. Newman, Missy, Laura...the list goes on

John was born in Green Bay, WI, on January 8th, 1953, He attended St. Marys Elementary and graduated from Premontre' High School a private school in GB that he paid for himself, "So his Dad anom would be proud of him" . He furthered his education with tech classes and became a State Certified Firefighter. He volunteered his time at the local dept. John worked at Patz Equipment in Pound and then at Pintsch's Hardware in Townsend where John was the pluming and heating Manager. He was a dedicated and loving employee who's working motto was from the scripture, "Work heartily as you would for the Lord."

John is survived by his wife of 35+ years Pam Warden and their three children Jonathon James (Kim) Warden,Jessie Jayne Warden Bennett and Toby Francis (Angel) Warden. They have 6 grandchildren: Brittany Ann, Brock Jonathon, Aria Jayne, Tristan John, Eavin Breanna, Autumn Fawn and one great grandson, Everett Jon Justus, (named in honor of cousin SS UMSC Justus Bartelt, who killed in action in Irag. An American hero!)

He is also survived by 9 brothers and sisters: Joseph, Mary, Ann, Liz, Marge, Rose, Jim, Pete and Michelle. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Francis and Martha Stella Warden.

He is also survived by many his mother and father-in-law James and Jayne Gilligan of Laona. And will be dearly missed by many special nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles,

John was loved more than he could have ever known...and by more people than he could ever imagine.

For John, love was a verb-- not something you just feel, but something you DO for people. The world will miss this strong, just, and caring man who raised his sons to be real men. Everyone whose lives he touched are much the better for it. Our loss is surely Heaven's gain. We cannot begin to comprehend the struggle he went through, but I feel I learned something about my outlook on life (and life in general) in the bargain. His battle is over, and now there is peace. Until we meet again, John....

I missed an opportunity to get together with John after forty years last summer. I will regret that for the rest of my life but I will remember the times we had in high school and as first room mates following graduation. Pam, I'm here for you and the family. Sorry for your loss.

John and I where friends at Premontre H.S. There were only a few of us that actually paid our own way through Premontre. That is how John and I became friends there. John was proud of that fact.
So sorry to hear of John's passing.

This Bible verse reminds me of John:
2 Timothy 4:7

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

"7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;"
Throughout John's illness he remained a faithful servant of our Lord, witnessing and sharing the gospel. I always said "John will be witnessing until his final breath", and he did. He was a very dear and special friend. We will always remember what a blessing he has been in our lives.
