Joseph Hartinger Obituary

Joseph (Joe) E. Hartinger died peacefully Monday, May 7, 2012. He was born on March 11, 1913 to the late Henry and Mary (Daul) Hartinger, Luxemburg, WI.

On January 29, 1944, he married Magdalene Marquardt. Joe played the saxophone and clarinet in numerous bands, including on the U.S.S. President Grant, traveling half way around the world. He, also, played in the original Green Bay Packers Lumberjack Band.

Joe owned and operated Hartinger Refrigeration for more than 65 years. He was active in such organizations as the local Musicians Union, The Knights of Columbus, U.C.T, and was a member of The Refrigeration Service Engineer Society for more than 30 years. He spent the last 30 years of winters at Nettles Island, Jensen Beach, FL, where he was active in many local clubs,

Joe loved all his nieces and nephews and was especially close to Judy Owen; Flintville, Bob Becker; St. Louis, MO, and Ruth Etter; De Pere, acting like a father to them. He was the kind of person who always thought of others before himself.

Survivors include his wife, "Madge"; brother-in-law, Robert (Claire) Lambert; two sister-in-laws, Nathalie Brunette, Elaine Marquardt, numerous nieces and nephews who grew up in Oconto Falls and in the Green Bay area, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Dan Hartinger; sister, Elsie Hartinger; and nephew, Kenneth.

Friends and family may call at 3:00 p.m. on the 7th day, of August 2012 at St. Bernard Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, Green Bay. The Funeral Mass is at 4:00 p.m. with Father Mark Vander Steeg officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff at Allouez Parkside Village for their wonderful care and devotion to Joe.
