Mary Lorraine Pecha, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Community Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls.

Mary was born on April 24, 1917, in Oconto, to the late Peter and Leona (Carriveau) Shallow. On May 30, 1939, Mary was united in marriage to Archie Pecha at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Oconto. Archie preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1997. She lived in Oconto all her life on the family homestead. Archie and Mary owned and operated a tavern/gas station/grocery store for 27 years, which was started by her father and mother. Mary was a caregiver for her father and mother and anyone else who needed help. She worked at Frigo Cheese, had a foster home and worked with Respite Care for many years. Her home was always open to family, friends, and any stray animals. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Oconto, and St. Anne's Society. Mary came from a family of 22 children whom she was the last survivor.

Mary will be sadly missed by three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Jackie, Neal and Cathy, and Ron and Anita, all of Oconto; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia and Ray Trever, Kelly Lake; and Cindy, Oconto; two sisters-in-law, Bernice (John) Goetz, Oconto; and Evelyn Saucier, Coleman; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a very special person, Shirley Retzlaff, Oconto; and her lap dog, Sophie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie; an infant daughter; a son, Harland; a daughter, Jane Marie; a grandson, Dale; a great-great grandson, Odis Davis; and 21 brothers and sisters.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, with St. Anne's Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and prayer services by Deacon Walter Kaszynski at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, Jan. 23, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto, from 9 to 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will be at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.

Pecha Family, My parents said your Mom and Dad were the best neighbors. They really enjoyed their trailer in Oconto. They truely enjoyed the visits and the wonderful veggies from Archie's garden and the treats from Mary's oven. May they rest in peace. My Dad's probably roller skating to Archie's music. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I have so many really great memories!! The best person that I know with a heart of gold. Especially to put up with me as a kid. Always making me feel welcome, even when I was sassy.
