Paul Baeten Obituary
Paul Baeten, 52, of De Pere, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon July 14, 2012 in Menominee County. He was doing what he loved best, being outdoors with friends and family and enjoying a beautiful summer day. The son of Harold and Mary Ann (Geurts) Baeten was born December 29, 1959, in Green Bay, WI. He was a graduate of West De Pere High School in 1978 and St. Norbert College. Paul was a lifelong De Pere resident. On February 18, 2002 he married Elizabeth "Betse" Macco in Green Bay, WI.
Paul lived life with zest and love. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and soccer. But most of all, he loved his family and friends. He was an extraordinarily thoughtful and caring husband, father, son, uncle, and brother. Paul recently returned to school at St. Norbert College to attain a degree in accounting. His business interests were wide-ranging, from computer technology consultant to entrepreneur.
Paul is survived by Harold and Mary Ann (Geurts) Baeten (Parents), Betse Macco (Wife), Andrea Baeten (Daughter), Kevin Wright (Stepson), Elizabeth Wright (Stepdaughter), Siblings: Betsy Baeten, Peter Baeten, Ann (Baeten) Vande Hei, Mark Baeten, Tom Baeten, Bill Baeten, Mary (Baeten) Ellison and Jason Baeten. He is further survived by his in-laws: Larry Cahoone, MA, Wendy Schacher, Oxford, David Vande Hei, De Pere, Fiona Baeten, Australia, MJ Lemire, CA, Anne Baeten, De Pere, Eric Ellison, CA, and Peter Orth, CA.
Friends and family may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Family Prayer Service at 3:45 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Old St. Joe's Catholic Church on St. Norbert College Campus from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. at church. Burial will follow Mass in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, De Pere. Please visit www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the Baeten family.
He will be deeply missed by everyone with whom he came in contact. His warm character and wide-open smile welcomed the world, and it is a smaller and sadder place without him. Our lives will always be richer for having him with us these far too few years.

Dear Baeten Family, I am deeply saddened to hear of Paul's passing. I had the pleasure of knowing Paul over the last few years and had the opportunity to share in multiple trips to Canada doing what Paul loved to do, fish. In the short time I had to get to know Paul I discovered what a genuine and caring man he was to his friends and family. Dear Uncle Harry, Aunt Mary Ann, all my cousins, and Betse,
I was saddened to hear of Paul's passing. The last time I saw Paul was at my Dad's (Loren Olson) funeral in November of 2002. It was so nice to see him and get caught up on the family. Although I never met Betse, Paul spoke of his happiness about his recent marriage and his plans for his new life with her. I'm so glad he had those years with Betse.
As I reflect on childhood memories, my time spent with Paul was always fun. Even though I was older and a bit of a chicken, he got me to try things I never would have done on my own, like tobbogganing down steep hills, and going bare foot into the creek behind his house.
Although his life ended too soon, it sounds like he lived it to the fullest, and went out doing the things he loved - how wonderful!
I wish we could be there to support the family, but please know we will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I never had the pleaseure of meeting Paul being in Denver with M2. He had the patience and wit to work with me, the worst tech person at M2. He always found a way to work out the problems and do it with great charm and a laugh. He made life better.

I can't tell you how saddened we were upon hearing the tragic news on Saturday.
While never being real close to Paul, whenever we did have the chance to talk at a get together there were two things that stood out; his love for you and the kids and his willingness to help any and all that had the good fortune of being his friend.
