Robert Neerdaels Obituary

Neerdaels, Robert (Bob) G.

Robert (Bob) George Neerdaels, 83, passed away peacefully and joined his beloved valentine of 57 years in Heaven Sunday, February 14, 2016. He was born on February 13, 1933 to the late Robert and Cecelia Neerdaels. On April 11, 1953 he married the love of his life, Donna Zeise, at St Francis Xavier Cathedral and the couple enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. Bob was a graduate of West High School.

Bob worked for Frank O. Zeise Construction Company until he retired and was a proud member of the local carpenters union. He was quite the handyman and had a passion for building things. He and Donna enjoyed attending craft shows and often sold seasonal items at Whispering Pines Tree Farm. He enjoyed spending time at the cottage and especially loved being a member of the Boulder Lake Snow-goers many years ago. Fishing and hunting, spending time up north, word search puzzles, watching Jeopardy and The Wheel of Fortune and tinkering in his garage and basement were favorite pastimes of his.

Bob was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and he served in the National Guard. He enjoyed his Wednesday lunches with Drew at White Dog Black Cat Cafe as well as at the Lorelei and was very fond of the staff at each of those establishments. He deeply loved and cherished his family and entertained many with his wonderful jokes and puzzles. Bob's family was his first concern, his priority, and his greatest source of pride and happiness. His life-long friends were also treasured and filled a special place in his heart.

Bob is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Kurt) Johansen, Appleton, Jeanne Neerdaels, Green Bay; two sons, Joe (Vivienne) Neerdaels, Phillips, WI, Drew (Stephanie Lehnert) Neerdaels, Green Bay, a son-in-law, John Rentmeester, Green Bay; 12 grandchildren, Ryan (Brenna), Caty (Edward Folly) and Carrie Rentmeester, Greta, Kevin (Erika) Johansen, Matt, Annika, Carolyn Neerdaels, Cody (Clara Janssen) and Luke Bennett, Andy and Sophia Neerdaels; 4 great-granddaughters Brynn, Harper Johansen, Julia, Olivia Rentmeester, 3 sisters, Jan Eckberg (Bob Genon), Joan (Larry) Walvort and Judy (Dave) McAllister and one sister-in-law, Beverly Zeise. He is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna and his beautiful daughter Kathy Rentmeester, his parents, Robert and Cecelia Neerdaels, 3 brothers-in-law, Kenneth Eckberg, Jerry Zeise and Ray Burkart, 3 sisters-in-law, Joyce (Dick) Rentmeester, Rose (Bill) Pichette, Jean Zeise. We find comfort in knowing that Dad will also be reunited with his beloved pets, especially Toy, Toby and Lucky.

Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a wake service at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Proko Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., Green Bay. Visitation will continue Thursday from 10:00am at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 413 St. John Street. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at the church with Fr. Joseph Dorner and the Rev. James P. Neilson O.Praem concelebrating. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.

Bob's family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Ai, Sandy Matuszak RN, Dr. Shrake, and the amazing staff members at Prevea Clinic on Webster and St. Vincent Hospital, Unity Hospice (with a special thank you to Mariah) and Bishop's Court for their loving care and support as well as the employees at Capital Credit Union on Webster Street, Webster Avenue Market and Walgreen's Pharmacy.
