Robert Persson Sr.

1920 - 2011

Robert "Bob" Persson Sr., 90, Suring, and former life-long resident of Green Bay, passed into eternal life Oct 30, 2011. Born on Nov. 13, 1920, in Kewaunee, Wis. He attended East High School the class of 1938. Robert was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Bob married the former Catherine Ritz on Aug. 8, 1942, at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Catholic Church. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the Armed Forces in World War II. Bob worked 42 years until his retirement at C.A. Lawton. He served as president of the local IAM and was a member of the AmVets. Bob enjoyed outdoor activities and times spent up north.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Catherine; three children, Robert (Carol) Persson Jr., Richard Persson, and Dawn (John) Czerwinski; daughter-in-law, Rose Mathey; step-brother, Jack Wiegand; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Evelyn) Ritz, and Pat Lee; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Karwedsky, and Dorothy Persson; many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Daniel Persson; one daughter, Mary Ann Persson; three brothers, Harry, Tom, and James Persson; two step-sisters, Marie Wiegand and Evelyn Frank; two step-brothers, Clyde and Roy Wiegand; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral Mass at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 710 N. Baird St., Thursday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. MALCORE (East) Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Per Bob's wishes his request was for no flowers or memorials.
