Roger Lax Obituary

Lax, Roger G.

Roger G. Lax, 86, a lifelong Green Bay resident, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017, in the loving care of his daughter. He was born July 5, 1931, to Robert and Mary "Marie" (Kaster) Lax. Roger attended St. Philip Catholic Grade School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952-1953, stationed in New Mexico. On October 26, 1957, he married Donna M. Wilson at St. Philip Catholic Church. Donna preceded Roger in death April 24, 2006.

Roger worked at Pauley Cheese for 21 years, later taking over his father's vending route. He retired from the route, but maintained many friendships with his former customers. In retirement, Roger enjoyed selling his wares at flea markets including Shawano, Cedarburg, Elkhorn, Iola and Chicago. He also enjoyed hunting, spending time at his cabin on his 4 wheeler and checking out the wildlife on his trail cameras. He meshed his love of fishing and his love of travel, taking trips to New Mexico and Canada with his daughter, and attending the annual Canadian fishing trip with his friends.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and David Schuessler, Kaukauna; a son, Rodney Lax, Green Bay; a granddaughter, Leah (Cody) Grant; a great-grandson, Roman Grant; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lax.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Another year has passed since you left us Roger. We still are not okay that you are no longer able to stop in for a visit to talk over the latest things going on in the coin-op hobby that we so enjoyed together. We only hope that you are in a better place now and that someday, we all will be able to get together again. In the meantime Roger, dear friend, Rest in Peace! God Bless!

Seven years have already passed since we lost a "GREAT" friend and buddy, Roger. We think of you often, and pray that you are happy in heaven, especially if you can go fishing, ha! Good friends like Roger are hard to come by, and we lost one of the best. Rest in peace Roger.

I can't even put into words how much I miss Roger each and every day. He was such a good friend and likeable guy. And to see how Jerry and Darell, names I heard often, still miss him is a true tribute to how great of a friend he was to many. Butch and his neighbor on Oak Grove were also people I heard of from time to time.

Dear Kelly,
Five years have passed since we have lost a true friend in your dad. We think of him very often and wish that we would have had more time to spend with him. In our recent trip to the Elkhorn flea market we checked out his selling spot in "The OLD Goat Barn" as he called it, ha! Sadly, he was no longer there. We sure do miss the good old times that we shared with him. Rest in peace dear friend.

Dad, there is not a day that goes by that I do not think about you and Mom and miss you both. I did not realize that this still allowed new messages and greatly appreciate the messages that were sent remembering my dad. Thank you for the memories and stories.

Almost three years have passed since our dear friend Roger has left us. We still think about him a lot. The world is not a better place since he left. About all we can do is remember the good times that we shared together. We hope that God has given you a place in heaven, where there is only happiness and joy, and that maybe, you have a few good coin-ops to play with, ha! God Bless Roger!

Dear Kelly,
Over two years have passed since your dad passed away and I still think of him every day. I just discovered this message center as I was remembering him once again and thought it only fitting to leave him a tribute.
Roger was one of the best friends I will ever have in my life. We spent many times together over the years at the cabin cutting wood, fishing, berry picking, and hunting. And of course fishing a number of years in Canada. He was a great companion to have with you and his sense of humor is unforgettable. Friends like him are rare in a man's lifetime.
I was pleased to find so many of the friends that I had heard about many times but never met, had left messages honoring him. A true tribute to the kind and honest friend he was to so many.

Two years have passed, and we are still heartbroken that our dear friend Roger is no longer with us. We miss his genuine friendship. The world has lost a very honest and caring man. Roger was always sharing the blueberries, tomatoes and whatever he picked or grew, with us, when we would see him selling at the various flea markets, where we would see him, or at the times that he would visit our place. Rest in peace dear friend.

Kelly
I just found out about Roger's passing. I was a longtime friend of your father's. Back in the 80's we went to Canada fishing numerous times. I was an owner at Video Doctors in Green Bay. I was the one who introduced him to selling at the Chicagoland Show. We shared booths many times. I repaired many of his slot machines thru the years being a restorer and collector myself. I will surely miss my old friend.

We will miss Roger. He was our cousin but he also was the best man at our parent's marriage. We got to know Roger better at our Mom's 90th birthday party and then later when our Mom passed away. We will miss his warm smile.

Our deepest sympathies,
Nancy, Jim, Jeff, and Bill Lax (Norman & Marian Lax's children)

Roger Lax, A "GREAT" friend that will be remembered in out hearts forever. We will miss all the times that we were able to visit with him when he was selling at the flea markets in Elkhorn, Cedarburg, Shawano and Rochester. Visiting with Roger was always the highlight of our trips to those flea markets. We always looked forward to the trips that he made to our place in Franklin, WI to visit. He was a good, honest and very likable guy. May God Bless you Roger! Rest in Peace.

Rodger was an amazing man. We lived next door to him for the past 13 years sharing a driveway. He always had a smile on his face and was so super sweet. He always had a fish story to tell and was the first to help you out. My husband, myself and my kids will miss him dearly. Rest in peace Rodger!
