Ronald Heuser Obituary

Heuser, Ronald H. "Ron"

Ronald "Ron" Henry Heuser, 79, Green Bay, died peacefully Wednesday morning, December 4, 2013, at a Green Bay hospital. The son of the late Ralph and Margaruite (Santy) Heuser was born June 2, 1934 in Lena, was a 1952 graduate of Pulaski High School, and taught elementary education at various area schools. On August 23, 1958, he married Lillian Timm.

Ron and Lillian owned and operated the Tailgate Restaurant and Motel in Mountain until their retirement in 1998. He was an active member and past-President of the Near Northeast Chapter of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association and, also, the Wisconsin Restaurant Association (1994-95). Ron had served on the state WRA Board of Directors since 1982, and was now an honorary member of the board. During his tenure, he served as chairman of many WRA committees. He was one of the 'founding fathers' of the WRA Education Foundation. It's no surprise that Ron was a great collector of cookbooks.

Ron also served in several positions as a board member of the Mountain Area Businessmen's Association, and helped to set up the MABA's scholarships fund. He directed various church choirs over the years, and was the organist and choir director at Tabor Lutheran Church for 21 years, where he also taught and served as superintendent of Sunday school. Ron served on the church counsel at Tabor, and took great pride in the planning and preparation of dinners and breakfasts sponsored by the Church Men's Club. Since his retirement, he enjoyed knitting scarves for the Salvation Army.

In addition to his wife, Lillian, Ron is survived by one brother, Marvin R. Heuser of Kenosha; one sister, Judith Zagame of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Timm and Betty Timm; one brother-in-law, Art Timm; many nieces, nephews and godchildren; two aunts, Margaret Helms and Augusta Santy-Specht; other relatives, neighbors, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Micheal, two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clarence (Shirley) Woelfel, Herbert Timm, and Ellie Heuser.

Friends may call at Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday. The visitation continues at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church, 1954 Co. U, Green Bay (Kunesh). The Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Pastor Stuart Dornfeld officiating, with burial in the Kunesh Cemetery. A Memorial Fund Has Been Established.

The family would like to thank Ron's doctors, nurses, the staff at Bellin Hospital, along with Unity Hospice for their care and concern.

Our time being members of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association allowed us to meet some very special people. Lil, you and Ron are of those we are privileged to have called our friends. Hard to believe it will 20 years since we first met as dining table partners on the WRA President's Cruise. Take care Lil, as we will keep Ron in our thoughts and prayers.

A candle to light your way to the heavenly father.
My family loved him very much - his wit, kindness and loving manner. He would constantly make crazy comments that made you laugh. He had his strong opinions as well but that was him. His devotion to his wife, Lillian, and to God was something very special.
One of his favorites was eating at Huhot Mongolian Grill and razing one special waitress.
In the last few years he wanted to chronicle his and Lillian's family tree which I hope he accomplish.
My husband stood up for his cousin, Lillian and Ron, at their wedding 55 years ago. They then stood up for our wedding almost 50 years ago.
We will miss you terribly.

"God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best".

I wish I could be there in person. Uncle Ron helped raise me, and I was very honored when he walked me down the isle on my Wedding day. He will always be in my heart, and I will miss him very much.

Ron was a man whose good deeds and educational efforts, integrity and Christianity made me proud to know him, and honored me when he called me his friend. From his writing talents to his Christmas cookies, his devotion to family, friends, church, work and communities made our world a better place to be. Even the disability of his illnesses could not deter him from his good works and love of family; he remained strong and determined almost to his end. It was a privilege to have known him, and he will remain in my memories. To Lill, I send love and care and gratitude that she made his life a wonderful one. I only wish it could have been longer for her - I know he wanted to stay with her as long as possible. They made a memorable team in all that they did. Their work, professionalism and contributions to the Restaurant Association will last well beyond their mortal limits, and will never be forgotten by those who will continue to benefit from their thoughtful charity towards education. Goodbye for now, my friend. May God hold you in the palm of His hand, even as he enjoys your wonderful Christmas cookies!
