Ruth Christian Obituary
Ruth Marie Christian
(February 18, 1927 - January 9, 2021)
Ruth, age 93, of Greensboro, NC, formerly of Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed away on January 9, 2021. Ruth and husband Chris, now deceased, resided in Green Bay from the early 1950's until Nov. 2015. Ruth graduated in 1945 from Saint Joseph's Academy, in Stevens Point, serving as a class officer. Ruth had many life time friends. Her personable manner worked well in the late 1940's while at Wisconsin Public Service where she collected energy payments and met Chris the love of her life. He was a semipro baseball player. Ruth was always in the stands and an active participant at the post game celebration. She found her game on the golf course, bowling alley, and at the bridge table. Ruth loved to garden, always planting a vegetable garden and cultivating roses, not only to photograph their beauty but they reminded her of her mother, Rose. She was a loving mother dedicated to her children and grandchildren. While in Green Bay, she attended Annunciation Parish from 1956-1971, was active in St Elizabeth's Catholic Church for 15 years, frequently volunteered at Saint Mary's Hospital and was an avid Packer fan. She won a lottery at a local grocery store in Green Bay and was given a choice of all the groceries she could pile into a shopping cart or a 40 inch tall Brett Favre bobblehead. It took her no time to load up the bobble. Ruth's long happy life teaches us the importance of family, building lifetime friendships and celebrations. She kept a notebook filled with birthday reminders, next to her Bible, the most page-tattered book in her library. She prayed every day and attended church every Sunday no matter whether at home or traveling. If you made it on to Ruth's prayer list, things seemed to turn out better. She is survived by: her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Beverly Christian; daughter and son-in-law, Cindi and Gary DeVillers, her son Bryan Christian; grandchildren, Christopher DeVillers, Andrea Sneeden, Kelly Meyers, Whitney Dockery, Laurel Christian, and Caroline Christian; great grandchildren, Jackson, Hudson, Landon, and Lillian DeVillers, Elizabeth and Ben Sneeden, Jude and Wilder Dockery, and Griffin, Rigley, and Marlie Bea Meyers.
