Steven Peters Obituary

Steven D. Peters

Born April 12, 1960 in Honolulu, Hawaii, Steve passed away July 22, 2021 surrounded by his family and dog Jack. Steve was amazing husband, uncle, grandfather, brother and friend. He graduated from Port Huron Central High School in 1978. Steve worked as a pipefitter for 38 years, most recently with Local 400 Plumbers and Steamfitters, before retiring in 2019. He was an avid outdoorsman and was the happiest fishing, hunting or golfing.

Steve is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kathy (Reynen) Peters, brother Russ (Jeannie) Peters; sister, Terri (Rob) Reid and nieces Katie and Maggie Reid. He is also survived by Kathy's son John Todd Flom, grandchildren Jessica, John and Cassie; great grandchildren Savannah, Carson, and Rylee. Four sisters in law, Bonnie (Mike) Reynen, Geri La Frombois, Sue (Mike) Bins, Holly (Ewan) Paterson, two brothers in law, Jim (Kim) Reynen, Tom (Meghan) Reynen, many nieces and nephews and our puppy Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Elizabeth Peters, grandparents, Russell and Madeline Peters, Arthur and Irene Ducat and younger brother Timothy Peters as well as his in-laws James and Elaine Reynen. We are certain that he was greeted in heaven by Gus and Beau Peters!!!!

We are deeply appreciative for all the phone calls, texts, cards during this long journey. Special thanks to our great friends for the support including Greg and Kate May, Tom Wiegand, Margie Hoslet, Becky Van Dreel, fishing buddies, Mike Van Wecken, Jerod Gorges, and hunting pal, Todd Dazyck, his golfing buddies at Wander Springs plus Steve's Friday golfing girlfriends Sharon, Theresa, Lois, and Shirley, and too many others to mention.

We are extremely grateful to our neighbors Molly and Paul Gevers and Debbie and Jim Gord, and many others for the constant support and assistance during Steve's long illness. Whether it was mowing the lawn or watching Jack, bringing in the mail or keeping us company, we will never be able to repay their kindness and generosity.

The family would like to thank Dr. Binod Dhakal, his staff at the Froedtert Clinical Cancer Center and Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care. Also, a very special thanks to all the staff on the 7th floor of the Center for Advanced Care at Froedtert Hospital for so compassionately caring for Steve during his stays in the hospital.

In keeping with Steve's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Steve decided to help others by donating his body to the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Please consider spending some time outdoors doing something you love in his memory.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Steve's name to Froedtert Hospital Foundation www.froedterthospitalfoundation.org. We also would ask you to consider donating blood and platelets to the American Red Cross or your local blood bank. Steve received so many transfusions during his treatment, we'd like to help replenish the supply.

Steve always said "Happy wife, Happy Life". Thanks Steve, for making me laugh every day. I love you.
