Thomas Surprise Obituary

Surprise, Thomas

Thomas Carl Surprise, 40, Green Bay and Seymour, WI passed away at a local hospital after a brief and valiant battle with pneumonia. At Age 40, Thomas ("Tommy" to those who he was closest to) was the most caring and vibrant soul with the ability to be a kid at heart that you could know. He would give the world to those with less than he had and would keep nothing for himself. He gave generously of his time to the children in his neighborhood, believing that teaching and passing on your knowledge to a younger generation made for a more understanding and caring place in which to live. Tommy would give his time to any cause that helped people overcome adversity, taught kids about the importance of always learning in life, or the prevention of pain and abuse. Tommy was a passionate man with a profound sense of duty, but with a ready smile and a quick wit, always on the move, and making the most of life, and by example, showing others how to do the same.

He was a talented carpenter with a wide, vivid imagination and was an avid outdoorsman with an unrivaled love of fishing, playing sports and a good thunderstorm. However, Tommy seemed the most happy and secure when doing activities as a duo. He shared most of his days with the one person he was closer to than anyone else, his twin brother Timothy. Tommy's commitment to making sure his twin was both safe and felt loved every moment of their life was more important to him that anything else. He rarely missed a game or passed up a chance to go fishing if he was going with his brother. His kindness, generosity and love for everyone around him will be missed by all. His loss leaves a space in the lives of many that is both larger than his personality and more vast than the great outdoors. He will be remembered and loved every time someone picks up a football, softball or fishing pole and where ever there is love, humor and laughter.

Survivors include his twin brother, Timothy Surprise and special friends Melanie and Jennifer Woelz; three sisters, Jill (Jim) Last and their sons Jacob and Kody; Michele (Mike) Wasielewski and their sons Mike and Chris; Janet (Greg) Vande Zande; his father, Gary Dumas; foster parents, Diane Starr and Pat Dinger; and close family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Surprise and his grandmother, Virginia Braun.

Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., Friday from 4 to 6 PM. Memorial Service 6 PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to Tommy's family at www.prokowall.com.

Tim this message is mostly for you. I am Mary Schwake. I was the cook at Franklin who took you and Tom to spend xmas in Two Rivers on a farm. You were in a group home at the time. I wanted to be your foster parents. My husbands name was Tim and his brother at the farm was Tom. We all chuckled at that. I will send a couple of pictures to Proko Wall for you.I know its hard to bury a relative much less a twin brother. Will pray for all of you. Mary

I can not fathom the loss/pain you are all going through, and my heart breaks for every1 that knew Tommy. I will NEVER EVER forget how genuine, and kind he was to me through VERY difficult times in my teen years. Sadly having not seeing him in years, it still leaves a very very heavy heart, and to leave such an impact in my life just shows what a wonderful, caring, selfless man we will never 4get AND always miss.
