XENIA — Derrick G. Malone, age 54, of Xenia, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born September 5, 1962 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the youngest of ten children born to Elbridge A. and Juanita J. (Piatt) Malone. He was preceded in death by his parents. Derrick is survived by his wife, Patricia "Patty" (Brammer) Malone, whom he married February 8, 1997; children: Amber (Ken) Wolf of Beavercreek, Scott Malone of Miamisburg, Lauren Salyers of Trotwood, and Emily (Curtis) Graham of Xenia; 4 grandchildren: Madalene Wolf, Emma Graham, Nicholas Graham and Gabriel Clagget; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Kenny and Melanie Brammer of Xenia; and his faithful dog, Riley; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Derrick was a graduate of Portsmouth Notre Dame High School and the University of Dayton. He proudly served in the United States Air Force , being stationed at Vance AFB in Enid, OK and Wright Patterson AFB. Prior to his diagnosis with cancer, Derrick was a teacher with Mad River Local Schools at Virginia Stevenson Elementary. He was a huge sports fan and accomplished golfer. Derrick was a faithful fan of Ohio State Buckeye Football, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Cincinnati Reds. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, March 18th at McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc., 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Visitation will be held at Friday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. He will be interred at Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.mccolaughfuneralhome.com.
