ENON — Edna Mae Sturni, née Gillette, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend died on August 4, 2024 at the age of 90. Edna lived on the same property her whole life, having been born in the farmhouse on July 20, 1934. She was a 1952 graduate of Enon High School and, for most of her career worked in banking. She later worked at Fox Lite, Mueller Roofing, and with her daughter at United Inc. REALTORS. The youngest of three children, her older brother, Howard Gillette, became a father figure to her after their father's early death, and she cherished her older sister, Marcia Hunter, who led the way with fashion and fun. After three chance meetings, she accepted a date with the man who became the love of her life. She thought Charles Sturni, a young USAF Airman, was the most handsome man she had ever seen. As soon as he returned from Okinawa in 1953, they married at the First Presbyterian Church in Fairborn. They enjoyed 68 wonderful years together. Son Mike, daughter Linda and son Frank followed and then she was blessed with three grandchildren. She was always there to listen, council and offer her wisdom about life. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Malcome and Ada Gillette, her husband Charles, sons Michael Sturni and Frank Sturni, grandson Christopher Sturni, brother Howard Gillette, and sister Marcia Hunter. Survived by her daughter and son in law, Linda and Tom Riffle, grandsons Ryan Riffle and John Riffle, many nieces and nephews, friends, and her beloved dog Stella. Edna always kept her family and friends close to her heart and enjoyed nothing better than being with them at the many get togethers she hosted. It has been said, she loved everyone, and everyone loved her. A service will be held at a later date and will be announced by the family.
