Eugene Pettit

FAIRBORN — Eugene Pettit, age 88 of Fairborn, passed away January 2, 2016 at Patriot Ridge Community. He was born January 22, 1927 in Blaze, KY to the late James and Isey (Lewis) Pettit. In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Larry Shelton; sister, Goldie Crace and brothers, Chester, Charlie, Elbert and Lenvil Pettit. He is survived by his 3 children, Vicki (Fred) Wade, Gail Shelton and Eugene (Karen) Pettit Jr.; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert H. (Margaret) Pettit and Eula (Junior) Baldridge; special friend, Johnnie Golden and nephews, Terry Ray (Janet) Pettit and Donald Lee Pettit and many other nieces and nephews. Eugene was a member of First Assemblies of God in Fairborn. He loved to play and sing gospel music. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Eugene worked for G.H.R. Foundry for 32 years and 8 months before retiring in 1983. Family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia, Beavercreek, OH 45432. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, January 8 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn.
