FAIRBORN — USAF MSgt. (Ret.) George W. Wilder, age 76 of Fairborn, passed away Monday January 10, 2022 at the Hospice of Dayton. He was born December 23, 1945 in Covington, KY, the son of the late George A. and Ruby (Zion) Wilder. George served his country in the U.S. Air Force, with numerous overseas tours including Vietnam, as a precision measurement equipment lab technician. He retired in 1990 at the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his military service he was employed with a private contractor at Wright-Patterson AFB, retiring again with over 40 years of combined federal service. In his free time, George was an avid Mr. Fix It, taking on many tasks around the house as well as helping his family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife to try their luck at area casinos. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Susan Wilder (Keller); two daughters, Stacey Orick (Mark), Tami Hancock (Brian); four grandchildren, Addison, Juliet, James, and Quinn; brother, Kenneth Wilder and niece, April Jimenez; half sister, Sandy Wilder (deceased); half sister Teresa Wilder; two half brothers, George and Gerald Wilder; as well as other extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Friday January 14, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Acclaim Senior Activities Center, 3878 Indian Ripple Rd., Beavercreek, OH 45440. I use to play connect 4 with George at the Acclaim Senior Activity Center, he lived that game we always had a good time :)

Susan , I'm so sorry to hear about George's passing. I really enjoyed taking care of him at Acclaim Senior Activity Center. Loved playing connect 4 with him , his smile was contagious :) Love you all . Anita Meyers

I worked with George at AFRL. He had the best energy. He was always kind and never hesitated to tell a joke or just sit and talk. I´ve missed having him around, and I feel his loss. He is missed. I send his family and friends my deepest sympathy.
