John H. Harlow

XENIA John H. Harlow, 88, of Xenia, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Greene Oaks Health Center. He was born August 1, 1924, in Lexington, Virginia, the son of Dora and Carrie Belle Irvine Harlow. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Foody Cornwell Post #95, VFW Post, #2402, AMVETS Post #14, the Cooties, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1629. He retired as the supervisor of the City of Xenia Water Department. He is survived by a daughter, Tanis Carpenter, Mason, two granddaughters, Elise (Brandon) Evans, Loveland and Kelsey Carpenter, Hyde Park, a step-daughter, Tina Leger, Columbus, a step-son, Ralph (Sandra) Troutman, Tennessee, two sisters, Mabel Sanborn, Fairborn and Irene Hilderbrandt, Xenia, a brother, Carlile "Curly" Harlow, Xenia, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Imogene (Bowles) Harlow, on December 22, 1990, his second wife, Betty (Troutman) Harlow, in 2012, by a son-in-law Dr. Gregory Carpenter, on February 26, 2013, four sisters, Beulah Genter, Viola Blake, Ethel Muterspaw, Mildred Stephens, six brothers, Ernest Harlow, Tom Harlow, Ralph Harlow, Raymond Harlow, Kenneth Harlow, and Paul Harlow, two step-sisters, Mabel Harlow and Opal Reakem, and by four step-brothers, Herb, Elvin, Carl and Wilbur. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 10am, Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. Contributions may be made to a favorite charity in John's memory.
