JAMESTOWN — Nancy A. Knauff, age 89, of Jamestown, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 at Xenia Health & Rehab. She was born February 15, 1935 in Dayton, Ohio. Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Basil H. Bogan; mother and step-father: Willma L. (Williamson) and Charles Bay, son: Glenn Daniel Knauff. She is survived by her loving husband of over 70 years, Glenn L. Knauff, whom she married August 8, 1953; her daughters: Debra Anne Knauff-Souza, Melanie Lynn Scheerschmidt, and Julie Renee Knauff; daughter-in-law: Janet Knauff; 7 grandchildren: Joshua Souza (Whitney Van Buren), Justin (Jessica) Souza, Sean (Jane) Scheerschmidt, Benjamin Scheerschmidt, Matthew (Ramon) Glenn, Amanda Scheerschmidt and Nicole Knauff; and 4 great-grandchildren: Grace and Anna Souza, and Juliana and Jordan Souza. Nancy was blessed to have a community who also referred to her as "Grandma." Nancy retired from Cedarville University as the secretary to the Deans of Student Life. She graduated from Martinsville High School and was a member of the Dayton Ave. Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and accomplished seamstress. Being a career military wife, Nancy was fortunate to have the opportunity to live in Hawaii - twice. Nancy enjoyed singing with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time in the company of her family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dayton Avenue Baptist Church and/or the Navy SEAL Foundation, 1619 D Street Virginia Beach, VA 23459 in memory of Nancy. Services will be held 12 Noon Friday, March 1st at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church, 1121 Dayton Ave., Xenia with Pastor Jonathan Young and Tim Abel officiating. She will be interred at Silvercreek Cemetery, Jamestown. Visitation will be held Friday from 10 AM until the time of service at the church.
