CEDARVILLE — Randall J. Straw, age 68, of Cedarville, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 20, 2025. He was born January 21, 1957 in Spangler, Pennsylvania, the son of Reese and Mary (Plouse) Straw. In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Judith A. Straw in 2018; father-in-law: Karl Benson; sister-in-law: Cindy Straw and brother-in-law: Steve Benson. Randy is survived by his daughters: Rachael Knapp (Greg Bunger) of Circleville; Ann (Robbie) Vaughn of Cedarville; Randi (John) Butcher of Fairborn; and Leslie "JoJo" Straw of Cedarville; 8 grandchildren: Caleb Knapp; Addie Vaughn; Cameryn Knapp; Avery Vaughn; Cohen Bunger; Braxton Butcher; Easton Straw and Lincoln Butcher; 7 brothers: George; Leslie; Glen; David; Clay; Leigh (Lisa) and Jason Straw; mother-in-law: Patricia Benson; sisters-in-law: Sue (Lee) McKinney; and Marla Benson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives. Randy graduated from Penn Cambria High School. He had recently retired from Wright Patterson AFB where he had been an Environmental Project Manager. Randy had proudly served in and retired from the US Air Force, being stationed in Europe and achieving the rank of SMSgt during his 20 years. During his time in the military, Randy earned two associates degrees and a Bachelor degree. Randy enjoyed woodworking. He was a traveler, visiting many countries throughout the world and 49 US States. Randy was happiest surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren. He was very supportive of his children and grandchildren's events and was very proud of the title "Papaw." He found joy and freedom riding his motorcycle, a pastime he truly loved. He was a devoted husband and missed his beloved wife, yet took comfort in the friendships he formed with the people and staff at Roosters. A celebration of his life will be held 11:30 AM Wednesday, August 27th at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. A gathering for friends and family will begin at 10:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. He will be interred with his wife at Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
