XENIA — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Lee Johnson (Ray), a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on Sunday, October 12th, 2025. Ray was born on December 10th, 1956. Ray was a hard worker and served in the United States Air Force, worked at Greene County Sanitary engineering for 19 years, and managed M.A.B paints for six years. Ray will be remembered for his warmth, his sense of humor, sarcasm and his deep love for football—especially cheering on his favorite team, the Cincinnati Bengals. He also enjoyed playing softball. Whether watching a game or spending time with his grandkids, Ray brought passion and laughter into every moment. His loyal dog, Jewels, was always by his side and brought him great companionship and comfort. A man of simple joys and deep connections, Ray found the most happiness in family gatherings, backyard cookouts, and long conversations with those closest to him. His legacy lives on through the love he gave, the memories he created, and the strength he instilled in those who knew him. Ray was the devoted husband of MaryAnn, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He was a proud and loving father to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by parents Raymond and Shirley Johnson of Fairborn, his sister Gale Carlson who is survived by Bruce Carlson. He is survived by his brother Greg Johnson (Carrie), Sons, Tony (Erin), Brian (Jessica), Daughters, Ami Jones, Michelle Darnell, and Jessica Pfeilsticker (David), Grandchildren Lamya, Makya, Luxury, Anthony Jr, Carter, Kaydence, Hailey, Ashley, Anthony Lee, and Adam as well as two great grandkids Issac and Sophia, numerous nieces and nephews, Brother in laws Chris Darnell (Kay) and Jimmy Darnell (Judy), Sister in laws Anna Butts (Keith), Loretta Johnson (Tom) and special friend Berry Stroop. Family was everything to Ray, and his joy was greatest when surrounded by those he loved. Ray will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Graveside service will be at Dayton National cemetery on 10/23/2025 at 9:45AM, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
