Shirley Filson Obituary

XENIA — Shirley Filson, age 88, longtime resident of Xenia, OH, passed away on February 3, 2025, in Oakwood, OH. Shirley was born in Peoria, IL on September 8, 1936 to Francis and Ethel Cowen. Shirley is survived by her children, Linda DeLawder of Wilmington, Cristi McClellan of Kettering, Lori (Tom George) Filson and Mark Filson both of Centerville; brother, James (Donna) Cowen of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Sandy DeLawder, Elizabeth DeLawder, Ryan (Briauna) Lopez-McClellan, Wesley McClellan, Alexa McClellan, Jack Filson and Katie Filson; great-grandchildren, Johnny and Justin DeLawder and Elena Lopez-McClellan; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Filson; son-in-law, Danny DeLawder; grandson, Jeremiah DeLawder; siblings, Arlene (Lewis) Anderson and Doris (Alonzo) Doss. Family will receive visitors on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 11:30 am-1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, OH 45432. A memorial service officiated by Dr. David McClellan will begin immediately following the visitation. Please visit www.NewcomerDayton.com to leave a special message for the family.
