Charles Bowers

Charles R. Bowers, 94, husband of Wanda Humphreys Bowers, died on June 5, 2025.

A native of Greene County, he was the son of the late E. F. and Evelyn Baxter Bowers.

He was a lifelong member of Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church and had served as ordained deacon and elder, church treasurer, and Sunday school treasurer. He also served on the Holston Presbytery Camp Committee.

Industries in 1989, where he served for more than 25 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Hugh D. Bowers, of Big Stone Gap, Virginia.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Doug Duncan of Greeneville; two grandchildren and their husbands, Lindsey and Brandon McCaslin, of Lebanon, and Claire and Eric Idell, of Greeneville; four great grandsons and one great granddaughter, James Mason McCaslin and Maddox Graham McCaslin, of Lebanon; Michael Cole Idell, Jackson Reid Idell, and Hadley Cate Idell of Greeneville, a sister-in-law, Jacqueline Havaux, and a nephew, Peter Max Bowers, both of Big Stone Gap, Virginia.

The graveside funeral and committal service were held Saturday, June 7th at 10:00 am at Timber Ridge Presbyterian Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Christine Bohn PhD. will officiate.
