Clifford Reed Jennings

Died: October 7, 2025

Clifford Reed Jennings. 92 of the Greystone Community, passed away Tuesday in his home at daybreak.

He was a lifelong farmer and retired after 34 years with the U.S Forest Service where he served as the Fire Control and Law Enforcement officer. He was Smokey the Bear to hundreds of school children. After retirement, he worked for the Election Commission for 20 years at the Greystone and Camp Creek precincts. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps as a rifle coach.

He was an avid gardener who loved sharing his produce and sunflowers. He had a natural ability to connect with all God's creatures from his beloved dogs, cats, and cattle to wild turkeys, foxes, and even skunks. He was a longtime member of Trout Unlimited and took delight in Kids' Fishing Day for years.

He is survived by his children: Kay Jennings, Debi (Terry) Baker, Marilyn (John) Swaim, Jeff Jennings, and Stephanie (Marty) Renner. He was a loving Granddaddy to Carrie (Sam) McCamey, and Lauren (Brian) Orr, David Baker, Matt (Colleen) Swaim, Paul (Jill) Swaim, Cliff (Margie) Swaim, Hunter (Emily) Swaim, Josh Jennings, Blake (Ashlan) Renner, and Kallie Renner, and great-granddaddy to Baker and Willow McCamey, Nolan and Eli Orr, Zeke, Walker, Coleman, Caroline, Brady, Cooper Reed, "Sally Summer", and Wyatt and Lainey Swaim. He is also survived by a sister: Frankie Poud Cutshall; a sister-in-law: Agnes Harrison; and many nieces and nephews whom he adored.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years: Wanda Harrison Jennings; his parents: Don and Mary Keller Jennings; siblings and their spouses: Genevieve and Blaine Harrison, Shirley Lawing, Rex and Joann Jennings, Donald Jennings, and Lonnie Cutshall; in-laws and their spouses: Jetta Ree and Roy Hopson, Leon Harrison, Reiben and Stella Harrison, Denta Kimery, Mary Sue and Bud Laws, Joe Harrison, and Wilma Harrison.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, and sons-in-law: Chris Jones, Ronnie Lintz, Nadine Hopson, and Gene Hopson.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service, Afton.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Gethsemane Church with the Rev. Doug Jennings and the Rev. Mark Laughlin officiating.

The family is grateful for the loving support of Amedisys Hospice and Dr. Ken Nickle and staff.
