Eleanor Leach

Eleanor Morse Leach, age 87, of South Mohawk Rd in Midway, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 5, 2026.

Eleanor was born in Staten Island, New York. She graduated from Port Richmond High School and received her bachelor's degree from the College of Staten Island. She worked as a Legal Secretary for 33 years.

In 1963, Eleanor married her husband, Thomas Leach. They were married for 58 years, and they had one daughter, Kathy Leach Guthrie.

She attended St. James Episcopal Church where she sang in the church choir and played piano, and she was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.

Throughout her childhood, Eleanor studied piano and became an accomplished piano player.

Eleanor enjoyed travel and made trips to Spain and Switzerland. Her other hobbies included watching classic movies, gardening, bird watching, reading, horseback riding, playing and listening to music, and caring for her cats.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Josh Guthrie; nieces, Beth Ann McDermott, Janice Kobryn, Karin Amarotico, Juliane Siciliano, and Valerie Columbia; nephews, John Leach, Andrew Leach, and Frank Morse Jr.; and sister-in-law, Maria Morse.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Leach; her parents, Thomas Morse Sr. and Anna Otruba Morse; three brothers, Thomas Morse Jr., James L. Morse, and Frank D. Morse Sr.; a sister, Gloria Giavasis; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Powell Morse and a niece, Nancy Hosmer.

There will be a memorial service at 2pm Saturday, January 17, 2026, at St. James Episcopal Church, officiated by Father Ken Saunders.

Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Silver Angels of Greeneville, Morristown-Hamblen Hospital, Fort Sanders Hospital, and UT Hospice.
