Michael T. Dempsy

Michael T. Dempsy, of Piscataway, passed away on March 9, 2026, at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. He was 80 years old.

Mike was born on Staten Island to Arthur and Margaret Dempsy. He spent his childhood there and graduated from Curtis High School. He went on to earn his Associate's Degree at Staten Island Community College in computer science.

In 1967, Mike enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country before his honorable discharge in 1969.

Mike had a successful career as a computer programmer, providing his expertise to American Brands, American Tobacco, Marine Midland, as well as other companies before working as an independent contractor.

Mike was happiest when he was on the golf course. As an avid golfer, he was a proud member of the Rutgers Mens Golf Association. It was on the third hole at the Rutgers Golf Course that he shot a hole in one, one of his proudest achievements.

He is predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Margaret Dempsy and is survived by his brother, Philip Dempsy (and his wife, Kathleen).

A memorial gathering celebrating Mike's life will be held on Friday, March 13th, 2026, from 11am-1pm at Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Ave., Westfield NJ 07090.

In lieu of flowers, Mike's family asks that you make a donation in his memory to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains.
