Donna Ansbro Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Spotswood Funeral Home - Spotswood on Mar. 3, 2026.
Donna Marie Belmer Ansbro passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family.

Donna is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas, and their children, Matthew (Theresa) and Meghan, of whom she was immensely proud. She also leaves behind her loving sister, Anne (Frank) and her family; her niece Laura Belmer and her family, her sisters-in-law Jeanne, Lisa, and Liz and their families; her Aunts Kay and Maureen; and her beloved Gallagher and Belmer cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Nancy Belmer; her brother, Michael; her niece, Cristy; her sister-in-law Susan and many other cherished family members and friends. We find comfort knowing her battle is over and she is resting peacefully in the arms of The Lord and those she loved and missed so much.

Donna grew up on 71st Street in Brooklyn, where she formed lifelong friendships, attended St. Ephrem's School, Fontbonne Hall Academy, Pace University and the College of Staten Island. For over 25 years she was a Vice President at American Stock Transfer Company. A mainstay in Bay Ridge and known as the "mayor of 71st Street" she headed the block party committee and was well known for walking Wishbone, her 130-pound Chocolate Lab. Donna spent the past 20 years in Spotswood, New Jersey. She loved spending time with family and friends, her dogs, cheering on the New York Mets, and listening to The Who at a very loud volume. Donna was proud of her Irish heritage and truly had the gift of gab.

Fiercely loyal, incredibly kind, and wickedly funny, Donna had the biggest heart and a smile that could light up any room. She made everyone feel welcomed. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her.

Family and friends may call on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood. Funeral services will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, March 7th at Spotswood Funeral Home, followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Donna's memory may be made to any of the organizations shown here: Tunnel to Towers Foundation; Wounded Warrior Project; The American Cancer Society; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
