MORRISTOWN - The Rev. Joseph Kenneth "Kenny" Haun, 76, of Russellville, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday while at his residence and is now singing in the Heavenly choir.
Kenny was a member of Rocky Point Baptist Church. He was ordained as a Baptist minister on Jan. 11, 1976, and faithfully served as pastor or music minister in several churches, including, Concord Baptist, Rocky Point Baptist, Bulls Gap Baptist, Mt. Moriah Baptist, French Broad Baptist, New Lebanon Baptist, and Ashton Baptist.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Kenny loved Civil War history, reading, music, and his wife's home-made ice cream. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph Kenneth Sr. and Euita Haun; and a daughter: Denise Slack.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years who served faithfully by his side during his ministry: Joan Haun; a son: Jonathan E. (Sadie) Haun of Mohawk; daughters, Emily Haun and Julia Haun, both of Sevierville; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many extended family members; and his church family.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in Westside Chapel with the Rev. Ross Woody and the Rev. Tim Jones officiating.
Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rocky Point Baptist Church Cemetery for graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Rocky Point Baptist Church.
