Merrill Arlie Harrison, 81, of Mohawk, passed away suddenly Tuesday morning at his home.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He worked 43 years at BASF/American Enka and retired from U.S. Fence in Bulls Gap.
Merrill was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
He was a member of the Mohawk Ruritan Club. He was a longtime volunteer with the McDonald Mission Center.
Survivors include two sons: Dwayne (Vickie) Harrison and Ritchie Harrison; one stepdaughter: Paula (Dave) Ross; two stepsons: Kenneth (Tara) Hurley and Rick Baker; grandchildren: McKenzie Harrison, Maranda Harrison, Travis Ross, Coralyn Ross, Rachel (Matthew) Samples, and William Hurley; three great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, Kennedy, and Ryder; and a stepbrother: Paul (Karen) Harrison.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Dorothy Maxine Harrison in 2022; his parents: Lois and Lewis Ed Harrison; and a sister: Judy Bray.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel with the Rev. Jay Mosser officiating.
Military graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Mohawk Cemetery. The Greene County Honor Guard will convey honors.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will include Bill Harmon, Terry Clark, Tom Solomon, Rick Wisecarver, Fred Nolen, and J.D. Ashley.
