David Brumfield Obituary

David Lee Brumfield, 81, of Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, formerly of Shirley, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025.

Born December 11, 1943, in New Castle, Indiana, David was the son of Lowell Wayne and Betty Ruth Brumfield. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eleanor K. (Smith) Brumfield, his parents, and his brother, Dean Brumfield.

A proud Boilermaker, David earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. He began his career at Western Electric, where he worked for many years before the company relocated its operations. After a brief period with Deluxe Corp, David and Eleanor pursued their entrepreneurial dreams and founded Dave's Pools - a business that continues to thrive today as a testament to their vision and hard work.

David was an active and dedicated member of his community. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club and a driving force behind the Shirley Baseball and Softball leagues, which he organized and supported for many years, creating opportunities and memories for countless young athletes.

He was also deeply involved in the National Pool and Spa Institute, where he contributed to the development of national safety procedures and manuals that continue to shape industry standards today.

David will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, community, and service. His legacy of kindness, innovation, and community spirit lives on in the lives he touched.

He is survived by his children, Dodie (Scott) Kirby, Chris (Christy) Brumfield, grandchildren Lindsey Kirby, Brad (Amanda) Kirby, Clayton (Shelby) Brumfield, great grandchildren Alivia, Calvin and Luke, and several nieces/nephews. He was particularly fond of his sisters-in-law Marcia (David) Day and Marie (Fiore) Belmonte as well as many close friends.

At his request, a small private celebration of David's life will be held for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers or donations we ask that everyone take a moment to look back on your fondest memories of Dave throughout the years.
