Andrew Brannan Obituary

BOYNTON BEACH, FL Andrew Stephen Brannan, 34, of Boynton Beach, FL left this world unexpectedly to be with his heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. He is now at peace and free from his earthly struggles. Andrew was born on April 5, 1983, to Stephen Whitley Brannan and Hilda Lopez Brannan of Jamestown. He was a graduate of Ragsdale High School where he excelled in soccer and football, helping to lead the Tigers to the state football championship his senior year as kicker. Andrew went on to graduate with a BA in communication from North Carolina State University. He then went on to receive his US Maritime Marine captain's license where he had a successful ten year career as a charter boat and private yacht captain. Andrew is preceded in death by his uncle Stuart Brannan; paternal grandfather, Dr. Bertie Maynard Brannan; maternal grandfather, Carlos Louis Lopez-Benitez II; cousins, Jacquelyn Danielle Brown and Carlos Louis Lopez IV. He is survived by his parents, Steve and Hilda; his sister, Nicole Brannan Rabe; brother in law, Brent Rabe; and nephews, Reece and Banks Rabe, all of Jamestown; his paternal grandmother, Sally Brannan; maternal grandmother, Hilda Lopez-Benitez; aunt, Lilliam Lopez, all of Greensboro; uncle, Carlos Louis Lopez III, aunt, Julie Lopez; cousin, Lauren Lopez Salazar and husband Giovanni Salazar; great-nephews, Giovanni Carlos and Luke, all of Concord; cousin, Erin Lopez of Charlotte; aunt, Beth Brannan Johnston, and uncle Sam Johnston, both of Summerfield; uncle, Scott Brannan; cousin, Jacob Brown and wife, Heather Teatzner Brown; cousin, Reid Brannan; aunt, Susan Brannan, all of Greensboro; cousin, Katie Brannan Freseman and husband Adam Freseman; great-niece, Stella, all of Fort Mill, SC; and a special friend, Amie Motes of Royal Palm Beach, FL. Andrew was loved by everyone who knew him. He was known for his quick wit and outstanding sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. His laughter was contagious and his smile could light up a room. He was a great friend who loved hard and who thought the world of his family and friends, especially of his father Steve and mother Hilda who continuously gave so selflessly to him throughout his life. His nephews, Reece and Banks, were the apples of his eye of whom he was so proud. And his bond with his faithful dog and companion, Haley, was special. Andrew was an avid hunter and fisherman and was passionate about both. He was currently employed by the Gulfstream Boat Club in Boynton Beach, FL where he got to do what he loved every day and spend time on the water working with boats. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Jamestown United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Latimer officiating. The family will speak with friends immediately following the service at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family on Andrew's tribute page at www.cumbyfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Jamestown United Methodist Church, 403 E.
