Ava "Deane" Hutson Herring died on April 18, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on April 27 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Greensboro NC, where she was a member for many years.

A visitation will be held prior at Forbis and Dick, Guilford Chapel at 2 p.m., April 27.

Ava was born on April 26, 1940, in Stoneville, NC, and was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lee Herring, Sr.; her daughter, Teresa Renee Huffman; her granddaughter, Shannon Marie Huffman; her brother, Frederick C. Hutson; her sister, Alice Faye Rakes; her brother-in-law, Charles Collins; and her parents, Albert and Doris Hutson.

Survivors are daughter, Lynette Sells (Scott); grandchildren, Gabrielle Pysher and Evan Pysher; great-grandchildren, Janaya, BreAnna and Erin Huffman all of Greensboro, NC; stepsons, Robert L. Herring, Jr. (Vickie) of Raleigh NC, Michael C. Herring (Liz) of Glendale Springs, NC; and stepdaughter, Susan Herring Ritter (John) of Baltimore, MD.

Ava is also survived by sister-in-law, Linda Hutson of Summerfield, NC and siblings, Deloris Carlton (Charlie) of Canisteo, NY; Bonita Robertson of Woodbine, NJ; Al Hutson (Pat) of Roy, Washington; Linda Justice (Jack) of McLeansville, NC; Sue Collins (Charles) of High Point, NC; three nephews, Bryant and Steve Hutson of Greensboro, NC; and Brian Carlton of Canisteo, New York; three nieces, Cindy Raffeaele (Gary) of Woodbine, NJ; Katie Ladd of Wilmington, NC; and Gina Gullett (Matt) of Lexington, NC.
