Billie Doris Barrett

December 31, 1927 - October 4, 2025

Billie Doris Watts Barrett, died October 4, 2025, at Piedmont Crossing. She was born on December 31, 1927, and lived in Kannapolis until 1999 when she moved to Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville, N.C.

Mrs. Barrett attended Kannapolis City Schools, Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester, Va., and the Mid-Management Program of the NC Bankers Association at UNC-CH.

She was employed in banking for 40 years and retired as an Assistant Vice President with First Union National Bank in 1991. She was on the board of directors for the Kannapolis Chamber of Commerce and was also a member of the Kannapolis City Council.

She was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in High Point.

Mrs. Barrett is survived by her husband, Robert W. Barrett; a stepson, Robert Jr.; and two stepgrandsons, Nik and Andy Barrett of Irvin, Texas. Preceding her in death were her parents, G. Herman and Alma Echerd Watts; and her former husband, Clifford E. Fowler.

At Mrs. Barrett's request, there will be a private inurnment service at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.

Memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church, 101 N. Main Street, Kannapolis, NC, 28081 or to Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, 1225 Chestnut Drive, High Point, NC, 28262.
