Greensboro The legendary Calvin L. "Roach" Williamson, better known as "the helicopter" at Ben L. Smith, departed this life on March 5, 2015. Known for his athletic talents in basketball, football, and track, he also had a love for music. His passion for music inspired his connection to the musical group Versatile Gents in the 1970's and Musical Force in the 1980's. He is survived by his four children: Nicole Stewart, Calvin L. Williamson II, Brandis Williamson, stepdaughter Tracy Anthony (Shon); three sisters Catherine W. Spinks (Bernard), Jueline "Geraldine" W. Feaster, Jacqueline Williamson; two brothers Laymon Williamson (Cheryl), Ivan Williamson, Jr.; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at United Institutional Baptist Church, 802 E. Market St., Greensboro. Family will receive friends at the family home.
