Anderson, Carl Woodliffe
April 22, 1937 - April 16, 2022
Carl Woodliffe Anderson, Jr., 84, formerly of Ramseur, NC, passed away peacefully April 16, 2022.
Carl was born on April 22, 1937 in Randolph County, NC to Carl Woodliffe Anderson, Sr. and Loy Beatrice Trogdon Anderson. Raised in a loving, Christian home, Carl and his family were active members at Jordan Memorial United Methodist Church in Ramseur.
Carl attended Ramseur High School (class of 1955) where he was active in basketball, glee club and many other sports and activities. He graduated from North Carolina State College (now N.C. State University) in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering with honors and was a member of the Pi Tau Sigma Honorary Mechanical Engineering fraternity. He received his Master of Science degree in engineering science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1962.
Carl's professional career included a long-standing position with Atlantic Research Corporation (ARC) in Virginia, where Carl worked on solid rocket motors technology for key Pentagon weapons systems. After leaving ARC, Carl began his own propulsion research company where he obtained the rights to two United States patents for rocket-propelled missile technology.
Growing up with his relatives on Trogdon Hill in Asheboro had a profound impact on Carl's life. It is no suprise that life came full circle to Carl in his latter years, which were spent on his own piece of farmland--Fox Mountain Farm--in Culpeper, VA.
Surviving is Carl's loving wife, Ann, his two daughters from a previous marriage (Amber Morris King), Lauren Bozzay (Joe) and Susan Caudle (Curt), and stepsons Michael Pardo (Sheila) and Noel Pardo (Laurel), as well as many precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 5, at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA, 22032. Visitation 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., Service 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Burial 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. For those unable to attend in person, Carl's service will be live streamed on
