Charles Fields Obituary

Charles "Charlie" Thomas Fields

September 17, 1957 - June 3, 2024

Charles "Charlie" Thomas Fields, 66 of Stokesdale went to be with the Lord on June 03, 2024 after a lengthy stay at Moses Cone Hospital. He was born in Guilford County, September 17, 1957, to the late James Richard and Barbara Dixon Fields. Charlie loved the Lord and delighted in his wife, his son, his grandchildren, and his large family. Charlie worked faithfully side by side with his father and siblings and was co-owner of Superior Mechanical Services for over 45 years. While he had a great career, Charlie's legacy is one of serving without ever asking to be served. His kindness and heart for helping others is an inspiration for all. If you ever needed someone dependable to help you, Charlie was your man. If you were down on your luck, or just needed a hand, Charlie was always there to help. He enjoyed the simple things in life. Joking around with his family, multiple projects around the farm, water skiing, watching TV, and going to the mountains with Emily. At the end, although his body was breaking down, his faith in Christ and his future was never in doubt. Charlie had a great smile, but it was his big heart that made him stand out. While Charlie's life here was not long enough, it was a life lived well.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 43 years, Emily Grace Fields; one son, Ryan Fields (Deborah); three grandchildren, Tanetta, Joseph, and Miriam Fields (another grandchild is on the way); one sister, Carole Gibson (Ken); three brothers, Jimmy Fields (Nancy), Andy Fields (Kathy), Ray Fields (Tracy), and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at First Baptist Church Summerfield with Dr. Kelly Bullard, Rev. Derrick Moody, and Rev. John Woods officiating. Interment will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at Flat Rock Church Cemetery, Stokesdale. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Forbis and Dick Funeral Service Stokesdale Chapel.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church Summerfield, 2300 Scalesville Rd, Summerfield, NC 27358, or to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or stjude.org.

My prayers are with the family. I lived around the corner on South Chapman street and knew Charlie and Andy. Charlie was always a good man and he will definitely be missed. I went to Murphey and Jackson Schools with him.

Emily & Ryan, I am so sorry for your loss. I drove by the church yesterday and seen where someone was going to be buried so close to your parents/grandparents. I was shocked and sadden to find out it had been for Charlie. He was one of the few good guys in this world.

You are all in my prayers.

I was shocked when I say this message. I played baseball for little league and high school. He was a great young guy and I am sure it carried all during his adult life. Thank for the info and my prayers are with the family and kids and grandkids

My deepest condolences to this lovely family. My husband, I shared many good memories with this wonderful person. He was definitely a spiritual walker in the light of our Lord. He will be surely missed.
My one memory was at Christmas. I would always make goodies for the holidays and peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate was Charlie´s favorite.
He would say, just don´t add the nuts. Bring all the leftovers.
Sometimes it´s just a little things in life that made the best memories
My prayers will be with you all during this difficult time especially Emily.
Love and prayers,

I was Charlie´s dental hygienist Pam. I loved joking with Charlie, I remember telling him a fib that Emily and Ryan would let their pet beagle in the house after he went to work. I also said that they let the dog hop on the bed and put his head on Charlie´s pillow. Charlie assured me they would not do that. We had many joking moments and I will miss him. I know he will watch over everyone he loved until we join our Heavenly Father

I'm saddened by this news, as this world will miss Charlie. He definitely had a servant's spirit and supported others and his church in those ways. Though, he will be missed here, heaven has been blessed.

Emily and Ryan, my heart goes out to you two especially. I always saw how close your family was, and I'm sure remains. My deepest condolences to both of you, as well as my sympathies for all of Charlie's loved ones. I'll be lifting you up in prayers for God to help comfort you as you mourn your loss and find solace in the fact you will see him again one day.
