Charles Long Obituary

Long, Charles

April 25, 1951 - November 9, 2021

Charles Long, 70, of Stokesdale, NC, passed away peacefully at home on November 9, 2021.

A Greensboro native, Charles was born on April 25, 1951, to the late Shelley Andrew Long and Edna Oaks Long. Charles took great joy in the fact that he grew up in a large family, being the 5th of 10 children, with many happy childhood memories. Charles had a passion for working on cars and was considered the Ultimate Mechanic. He graduated from Northeast Guilford High School in 1969, and was a highly respected member of the automotive industry in the Triad. His last position was as service manager at Flow Lexus of Greensboro. Charles also had a God-given wisdom beyond education, with a broad range of knowledge and talent for many things. Charles was a great peacemaker who was blessed with the love and support of innumerable friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Kathy Cox Long; his children Andy (wife Mandy), Rebecca (husband Matt) and Sarah (husband Dylan); grandchildren Liliana, Payton, Haley, Kenzie and Cooper; siblings Eddie, Margaret, Michael, Jerry, David, and Joyce; and many loved nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Tommy, Allen, and Elaine.

A celebration of life service will be held at Gospel Baptist Church, where he was a longtime active member. The service will be held on November 14, 2021 at 3 p.m. on what would have been Charles and Kathy's 46th wedding anniversary. Visitation will follow the celebration of life service.

He was very unique and there will never be another like him. Special thanks for the exceptional loving care by AuthoraCare Hospice.

Although I haven't seen Charles in many years we were at one very close friends back in our teens and early twenties He and I shared our first and second apartments for about two and a half years. During our friendship we camped a lot, built a cabin in the woods around our neighborhood, fished in the nearby pond and worked on a lot of cars. At one point in time he I and Charles Brown were nearly unseparable. Where you saw one the other two were sure to be close by. Of course we were also partners in some mischief. Many memories will remain in my mind forever. Rest in peace old friend.

Having known him all through school and church we lost touch for years. Charles was a really great guy and I can say his only fault was being a MOPAR FAN. I forgave him for that many years ago. NOW RIP you deserve it.
To the family my thoughts and my prayers are with you all.

Charles was a special person, knowledgeable about all things related to vehicles, and liked by everyone.
His brother, Tommy had a son named Tommy, Jr.
Tommy, Jr. married my daughter, Erica Bailey Long and they have 2 children.
Tommy and I got to know each other as we drive Lexus products and he was always there to help you find out what your vehicle needed and made sure it was fixed and fixed in a timely manner.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his wife, Kathy.
May God be with you during these times and we know Charles is in a better place.
God bless you, Kathy, and all of the Long families.
