Christie Bevington Obituary

Christie J. Bevington

February 15, 1964 - May 16, 2025

Christie J. Bevington, 61 of Wahoo, NE, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 15, 1964, in Lexington, NE, to Henry and Wilma (Fritz) Schmeeckle.

Christie was baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood, NE. She attended District 4 Country School and graduated from Elwood High School in 1982.

In 1982, Christie married Joe Jennings in Elwood. From this union, they were blessed with two children, Emily and Adam. They eventually moved to Curtis, where she worked for Wilkinson Insurance and ultimately earned her real estate license in 1993, working for Davidson Auction and Swanson Real Estate.

In 1999, Christie, Emily, and Adam moved to Malcolm, where she began her 23-year career at the Nebraska Realtors Association. During her time with the association, she received multiple awards and had a scholarship established in her name. However, more importantly, she mentored, inspired, and transformed the lives of many real estate agents across the state with her infectious smile and contagious laugh.

On August 8, 2008, at 8:08 pm, Christie married Troy Bevington in Fremont, NE.

She was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ceresco, NE, and a mentor with Teammates in Lincoln. She enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, caring for her beloved dogs, and spending time with her grandpups. Most of all, she cherished moments with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Troy Bevington; children, Emily (Andy) Wilcox of Waverly, Adam (Dani) Jennings of Wahoo, Samantha (Logan Jones) Bevington of Oregon; grandchildren, Gracelyn, Livia & Duke Wilcox, Charlee & Easton Jennings, Laurel Bevington Jones; siblings, Larry (Gloria) Schmeeckle, Cheryl (Larry) Brell, Cherese (Kerry) Barnes; mother-in-law, Kay Bevington; sisters-in-law, Dee (Brent) Wasenius, Wendy Bevington Johnson, Amber (Jim) Nelson; Andrea Jennings (Barbara Herzog) many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Wilma Schmeeckle; brother, Doug (Jan) Schmeeckle; and father-in-law, Gail Bevington.

Funeral Service was held Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo, NE. Visitation was held Wednesday, May 23, 2025 from 5-7 pm at the church. Interment at Fridhem Cemetery, Wahoo, NE.
