Corey Couch Obituary

Couch, Corey Franklin

July 20, 1977 - November 30, 2023

Corey Couch entered his heavenly home surrounded by his family, on Thursday, November 30. After graduating from Northwest High School in Greensboro, Corey attended UNC-Wilmington and UNC-Greensboro, receiving the Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from UNCG in 1999. In addition to his academic training, Corey held numerous certifications for his degree in the field of Computer Network Engineering and Information Technology. He was employed by computer companies in Guilford and Wake County.

Corey was a loving and admired son, brother, and uncle. He was particularly fond of spending time at the ocean and taking family trips. He shared many interests and conversations with his brother Garrett, and the two remained very close as adults. During his later years he also became very fond of his young nephew Gage, and the two spent numerous late night video gaming sessions together. Corey loved reading and learning about many areas of history. He was an avid reader of new technology and especially interested in nuclear energy. For pleasure, he enjoyed watching wrestling events, competitive video gaming and learning to weld.

Corey is survived by his parents, Marilyn Lange, and Dexter Eugene Couch, his step-parents, Jo Ann Couch and Garrett Lange, his brother, Garrett Couch, wife Sheryl, and his nephew Gage Couch. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive,- High Point, NC 27262, or a charity of your choice. A family service is being planned for a later date.

Sending lots of love and prayers to the family. We were neighbors when Cory was in Kindergarten. I recall Cory was very intelligent and could name every dinosaur and numerous facts about each dinosaur at 4 or 5 years of age. When Cory would come to play down the street at our house, I sneaked him cookies which he loved!! (Only healthy foods at home). Marilyn and I walked a lot in the Green Valley neighborhood with our boys, but Cory was way too wise to walk in that heat, so he would insist on Marilyn pushing him in the stroller even at age 4 or 5. Why should he waste his energy in all that heat? He was way too intelligent and clever for his years! Cory will always have a special place in our hearts! May God hold each of you in his arms during this difficult time.

I am heartbroken about the passing of Corey. I worked with him at Industrial Truck Sales and Service early in his career. He was very smart, sweet, and such a great soul. I had contacted him last year and we were going to meet up for lunch but that didn't happen. I am so sorry for the loss that his family must be feeling. God gained a true angel today and I am sure he is talking wrestling with all the greats that have gone before him! RIP my friend!
