Ellen - We go way back at St. Francis when I taught Dana. I still remember Dan as the funniest Dad in my class. My granddaughter just had her ACL repaired by Tim and she loved him! So his legacy lives on! A special guy gone too soon.

I just found out Dr Murphy passed away; I was saddened to hear the news. We don't live in Greensboro, so probably didn't see in the paper. He did a meniscus surgery on my knee several years ago. He was quite the spitfire, funny, but I felt very safe in his hands. Our thoughts and prayers to the family.

What a great great man! I e just learned of Dr Murphy's passing and I was devastated. He'd been my orthopedic since 2004 and there's no one else I would ever go to....except Tim. He's also a great orthopedic. I always enjoyed Dr Murphy's sense of humor! I send continued thoughts, love and prayers to all of the family.

It is with a heavy and sad heart I learned of the passing of Dr. Daniel Murphy. I worked with Dan when we both first moved to Greensboro and I had recently graduated from PA school. What a great time at the beginning of our careers. I often think of him, his generosity and friendship. The world will miss his kind soul and free spirit. One of a kind man and physician. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Surgeon ? Dr. Murphy was a body mechanic ! After 5 shoulder, 2 elbows, 2 knees,& 1 hip, I am good for life. I would love sitting in the room and talking life with him. Not only did he fix me up physically, but emotionally I left the room full of caring advice. Since 1986 I have been under construction. Unfortunately, no Dr. can replace Dr. Murphy's concern, artful skill, and attitude. I do hope he will enjoy his rounds of golf in heaven. My best to his family - celebrate his life as a wonderful human being !!!

Dr. Murphy will never be forgotten in our family. He was a wonderful doctor and surgeon that performed many surgeries on our family(myself, my father, my mother, my husband and my sons. I always joked with him and said that we must have bought his vacation home for him. He always treated us like we were family and always worked to get us back to the same active lifestyle as we had prior to the injuries or worn out joints. His sense of humor was always welcomed. I personally had 5 knee surgeries and one shoulder done by him. My last was a knee replacement and he retired shortly after that.
My heartfelt thoughts go out to his family, and I want to thank you for sharing him with the rest of us for so many years. Rest now Dr. Murphy.

We send sincere condolences for the loss of your husband, father, grandfather, friend. Dr. Dan was a remarkable man, an excellent physician who performed amazing surgery on our son. He was also a friend; and his presence on this earth will be missed by so many. We always said that all physicians should model his kind, caring, sometimes funny, bedside manner. He was the best; and fortunately, Dr. Tim has so many of his dad´s characteristics, so his legacy lives on.

From our family to your family, we offer our deepest sympathy-and fond memories. When Dr. Wainer didn´t have the heart to tell our son that, because if his orthopedic injury, he must miss going to camp, he sent Dr. Murphy in to deliver the bad news. Dan explained everything to our son, including the fact that Dr. Wainer had sent him to break the news! He was always fun, making even bad news easier to accept. We will always remember his kindness and empathy.

Greensboro was truly blessed by Dan's caring, leadership and people skills. I had the privilege of working with Dan in the late1980s on complex surgical cases: his abilities and judgment were second to none. Our medical community extends deepest sympathy and prayers to all who loved him. How fortunate we were that Dan chose Guilford county to help make this world a better place.

I will never forget the 1st time Murphy and I met. I was either his 1st or 2nd patient when he was at the practice with Dr. Paul Long, on Westover Terrace. He took time to show me around and had that great laughter. He and I stuck together till he retire...about 35 plus yrs! He took great care of me and was known for..."well what does mean and explain it for me". I always knew he was serious if came in the patient room and SAT DOWN to talk to me. My heart goes out to his wonderful family and his medical family. God speed Murphy.......
