Danny and I worked together in the mail room at Blue Bell, Inc. in the early 1970s. I have many fond memories of Danny - his sense of fun, his enthusiasm for life and never letting me get away with any B.S. Here's a picture of Danny jumping off of the loading dock I think.

So sorry to hear about Danny. I worked with him at the then Bulk Mail Center. I remember that he was ambidextrous and would key right and left handed and I believe he also played golf right and left handed. I never had the pleasure of joining him on the golf course but saw him last at Crooked Tree in the group behind us. He seemed never satisfied with just being good. That seemed to bore him. Just my impression. He seemed to always want to take it to the next level! What a great guy! He will be sorely missed!!

My lifelong friend, Jim Desper, summed up Danny´s spirit so uniquely, I´ll defer to his perfect description of Danny.
Danny was a lifelong friend of mine as well. He was so very proud of his son, Evan. He loved a good laugh, a good hike, and Duke basketball. Danny was truly a complex soul who found so much joy in the most simple and real things. We are forever grateful to Faye for taking good care of him. We know how much she meant to him.
Our friendship began at Kiser Jr High School, and held fast at Grimsley, UNC-G, traveling to and working at the Grand Canyon, and attending countless Jackson Browne concerts. In our travels we were able to see JB at Red Rocks, Colorado in 1977. It was a definite highlight.
Remembering Danny will always bring a smile to our faces. Rest in in peace, dear friend.

I remember Evan as a little boy, when his Aunt Laura and I would get the boys together to play occasionally. I met Danny in 1985, since he is Bruce's brother. I lost touch with the family 9 years ago, but they have always been in my Heart, and thoughts. So sad to hear Danny is gone too soon. My sincere condolences to Bruce and Evan. Peggy Spears

I remember Danny from our Postal Service Bulk Mail days in the late 70´s and early 80´s. He was a key cog in our corporate golf team helping us to several championships as well as teaming with me to win the annual Brookfield Uniforms tournament. An excellent all around athlete he actually hit the ball right handed but putted left handed. We had lots of fun with guitars and music also. Kinda lost touch after we changed crafts in the Postal Service but always enjoyed catching up when we would meet at restaurants or stores. A talented, nice guy who is remembered fondly.

A very melancholy Happy Trails to an old friend - Danny Piephoff.
Danny excelled in so many things academic, athletic, and musical, but he never dwelled for too long in any one place. There was a restlessness about him that could manifest as aloofness. But it was never arrogance – just self-preservation. He was so strong and so smart, and people were drawn to him. It was hard to get close to him, but he would get close to you, and you were his friend.
He was a unique and special person, and I am happy to say he was my friend.
Sadly, his illness was protracted and difficult, but he has finally found his peace.
