David Dieffenbacher Obituary

David Ira Dieffenbacher

August 2, 1936 - February 13, 2025

David Ira Dieffenbacher, "Duffy" of Greensboro, NC, has gained his wings and passed on to be with our Lord and Savior. He passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025. David was surrounded by his loved ones and entered into Heaven in peace and comfort.

He was born on August 2, 1936, in Rochester, NY. David honourably served in the US Marine Corps for 22 years as an intelligence analyst, and served for two tours in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat V.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years of marriage, Mary Elizabeth Dieffenbacher; his mother, Laura Curry; father, Carl Dieffenbacher; brother, William Dieffenbacher; sisters, Carol Anderson and LuAnn Rogers.

David and his wife Mary, spent the last 40 plus years living in Greensboro.

He was a devoted, loving and supportive husband to Mary until her death in 2022. He is survived by his six children, Daniel (Jody) of Greensboro, James of Brookhaven, PA, Joseph (Minna) of Oxford, England, Tina, Mike (Fran) and Jeff, all of Greensboro.

He was a loving and supportive grandfather and great-grandfather of nine grandchildren, Michael (Rebecca), Columbia, MO, Kristen (Jess) of Farmington, CT, Mitchell of Downingtown, PA, Seth, Ally and John, Emma and Evan Hendrix and Zac Blowe, all of Greensboro; and his three great-grandchildren, Carter, Colbie and Coley Alter; as well as many devoted nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.

A special thanks to Todd Blowe, Liz Baldwin, Adrienne Cregar, Jimmy Skordas, Gary Black, Chip Johnson and all of his Golf Family out at Blair Park Golf Course for their friendship and care.

David was a devoted member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Greensboro for over 35 years. His wife Mary was a crucial part of his faith. He was also an avid golfer and past president of High Point Seniors Golf Association. He took great pride in attending his grandchildren's sporting events and school concerts, bragging about them to anyone who would listen. His cat, Boots, brought him comfort and quite a few laughs.

Services will be held at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 North Elm St., Greensboro, NC, on March 4, 2025, at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. (woundedwarriorproject.org).

Tina,
I worked at Alamance with your mom and Cathy Spencer. I am so sorry about your dad's passing. And your mom in 2022. I didn't realize she had passed as well.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Take care,
Melinda White
