David Morris Obituary

David "Dave" Morris

Reidsville - David "Dave" Morris passed away peacefully with his family by his side Friday, February 9, 2024.

A celebration of life will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 1 p.m.

Dave was born January 4, 1943, in Warwick Rhode Island to the late Abraham and Ruth Martin Morris. Although Dave was born in Warwick, Reidsville was his home and where he was happiest. It was where he met the love of his life Gretchen Holt Watlington with whom he was married nearly 40 years.

Dave was what you would call a hobbyist, having numerous hobbies throughout his life, from fishing to competitive roller dancing, to photography, to astronomy, literally building an observatory in his back yard, to his beloved model trains. Those trains were a sight to behold! He never missed an opportunity to tell people about his hobbies, at the ready with plenty of pictures to show you. He enjoyed life and truly lived it to the fullest.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gretchen, of the home; son, Todd Morris (Kory) of Nebraska and daughter, Tracy Morris Shaw (Gary) of Asheboro; as well as one sister, Vickie Morrison (Al) of Tennessee.

The family would like to thank, Mark and Sue Phillips, Mary Holt Adams, Trina Marson, Anna Smith and Lisa Ramsey for their love and support.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to the charitable organization of your choice.

Mr. Morris was such a kind hearted person whose vocal tone had a richness of depth to match the depth of the richness in his heart. It was always such a a joy to see him at the office with that million dollar smile. I will truly miss him.

My deepest condolences to the family and close friends. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

David was such a kind soul. Loved getting to work with him when we had dental cases at Day Surgery Center. Always full of stories and very knowledgeable in Astronomy. He was so proud of his Observatory in his backyard. Another good one gone too soon. Rest Easy David.

To the family of Uncle David
i am so sorry for your loss. I only met Uncle David a few times and he always had a smile on his face. Mom (Vicky) spoke very highly of him.
May God give you peace through these times.
Mom says she named me after him.

Dave was such a prince of a man. He was kind, funny, a great listener, empathetic and very skilled and expert at whatever he endeavored to do. He was a wonderful CRNA and Annie Penn and then Cone Health was blessed to have him as an employee. love and prayers to all.

Dave and Gretchen were sweet friends and loyal members at First Baptist Greensboro. We enjoyed hot dogs at Short Sugars when we visited them in Reidsville. God´s peace and comfort to Gretchen.
