Dee Bryson, 87, of Julian, North Carolina, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 2nd, 2022.

He was born in Unaka, North Carolina on Feb. 18, 1935. Upon graduation from Murphy High School, he went to Chicago with a friend and worked in the steel mills for about two weeks before returning to North Carolina and enlisting in the Army. He was sent to Korea for almost two years where he honorably served his country. Upon returning to North Carolina, he enrolled at Asheville Biltmore College, then transferred to East Carolina College where he graduated in 1961, then earned a master's degree in 1962. While enrolled at East Carolina, he met Loretta Hall who became the love of his life. They were married on December 20, 1959 and married for 62 years. He worked for the United States Department of Health and Human Services for many years before retiring in 1986. After retirement, he ran a Poultry Operation on the family farm until 2015, when he retired for good.

He is survived by his wife Loretta Bryson, son Dan Bryson (Lynda) of Raleigh, grandsons Hunter Bryson of New York, Davis Bryson (Lauren) of Wilmington NC, and granddaughters Kimberlen Bryson of Raleigh, and Kelcey Mullis of Lewisville. He also had many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Ann Marie Mullis, parents and two brothers and two sisters.

He loved his family. He was a faithful member of Southeast Baptist Church where he served in many positions over the years including being a deacon and had many great friends there. He also loved gardening and routinely grew bushels of amazing tomatoes each summer that he donated to the Homeless Shelter and many friends and family. He loved to play ping pong and had many intense matches over the years with his son, grandchildren and friends. He loved to work out and regularly went to the YMCA until just a few months ago. He and Loretta loved to travel, often with family, other times with friends, and sometimes just the two of them.

The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm on Friday August 5, 2022, at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home in Pleasant Garden NC, followed by a service at 2 pm. After the service, burial will be at Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian NC.
