Ed Bowman Obituary
September 14, 1950 - August 16, 2021
Ed Bowman, a native of Greensboro, NC, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack at the age of 70, on August 16, 2021. He was the son of Harry Edward Bowman, Sr. and Lydia Bowman.
The majority of his working career was dedicated to Southern Rubber Company, Inc. Over his more than 48 years of service, Ed helped the company diversify and grow. In 1995, Ed and his best friend, and business partner, David Delman, bought Southern Rubber Company. Ed prided himself in being an honorable gentleman in all aspects of his business relationships. Over the years, the employees at Southern Rubber Company became his extended family.
Outside of work, Ed was passionate about sailing, maintaining his yard, grilling for family dinners, being active at Buffalo Presbyterian Church and spending time at the coast. Ed was especially devoted to his wife Carol and the two of them made every effort to spend as much time together as possible.
Ed was preceded in death by his father, Harry Edward Bowman, Sr. He is survived by his mother Lydia; his loving wife Carol; four children, Amy, Kate, Stephen and his wife Julie, Liz and her husband Rhys; four grandchildren, Grayson, Gavin, Edison, Jude; and his beloved dachshund Grace. In addition to his extended family, Ed leaves behind many dear friends.
A graveside service will be held at Buffalo Presbyterian Church at 803 16th St. Greensboro, NC 27401 on Saturday, August 21 at 11 a.m. A visitation will follow in the church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Buffalo Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society. Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel is honored to be serving the Bowman family.

We really liked seeing Mr. Bowman at Southern Rubber or his house to work. He was a joy to be around. He always had a big smile and kind word when he saw us. He was always asking about our families. Great guy. Wish he was here now to help straighten out these crooked politicians.

Mrs. Bowman, Carol,Amy,Katie,Stephen and Elizabeth I am so sorry to hear of Ed's passing. He was a great boss and friend. I enjoyed working with him for over 30 years. I always made him a strawberry cake for his birthday. His birthday and my husband's birthday was the same day. I loved all the children just like I did mine. Working with him at Southern Rubber was the best years of my life. I'm praying for you all that God will help you during this sad time. I love you all.

Ed was always extremely kind to me and my family. He was warm and genuine when he listened and shared conversation with you. He has raised wonderful, kind, brilliant children. Whenever I saw anything related to sailing I thought of him. He was truly loved and will be missed dearly.
