GREENSBORO Eddie Jean McCollum Grigg passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018, in Greensboro, North Carolina. With her deep love of family and strong abiding faith, Eddie will forever be remembered as the quintessential Southern lady. A celebration of her life will be held from 10 until 12 p.m. on January 5 at the home of Laura and Robert Green, 407 Beverly Drive, Greensboro, North Carolina. A visitation will be held on January 14, 2019, from 10 until 11:30 a.m., with services to follow at 11:30 a.m., at Germantown United Methodist Church. A committal of ashes with inurnment will be held that same day at 2 p.m. at the West Tennessee State Veterans' Cemetery. Born November 3, 1930, in Mineral Wells, TX to Edna Fowler McCollum and Buster Len McCollum, she was raised in Dallas and lived there until 1952, when she married James Price Grigg. Together they enjoyed 46 years of building a lovely life, raising their family and contributing to their community until his death in 1998. Wherever she lived she called "home," whether in Texas or in her adopted homes of Germantown and Memphis, TN and the past two years in Greensboro. She is survived by her daughters Laura Green (Robert) of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Carol Grigg (Greg Darnall) of Sterling, VA; granddaughters Laura Elizabeth Lane Green of New York City and Shelby Price Green of Mooresville, North Carolina; sister Cynthia Lowe of Grapevine, TX, brother Gary McCollum (Barbara) of Houston, TX and many cherished nieces and nephews across the country. Her legacy of love lives on in all who were blessed to know her. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Spring Arbor of Greensboro for their kindness and compassion over the past two years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eddie's memory to Christ United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Gate City Cremations is serving the Grigg family.
