Greensboro Elsie Case Mabe, 97, passed away January 16, 2016 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 20, at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 19, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.Elsie was born August 14, 1918 to the late Fletcher and Dottie Case. She spent most of her career with Roses, having been the first one to open the initial box of merchandise at the new store, as well as close the last box. She was a member of State Street Church of God for sixty-five years and warmly known as a prayer warrior, having often been asked to pray for many people with illnesses. A quiet, yet strong and thoughtful person, Elsie is remembered as a dear friend to many and a loving mother to her sons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry J. Mabe, as well as a great-grandson, Cody Alexander Mabe. She is survived by her sons, Buddy Mabe (Hope), Fran Mabe (Judy) and Carl Mabe (Phyllis). Also surviving are sisters, Majesta Neese, and Josephine Smith, as well as 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gateway Education Center at 3205 Wendover Ave E, Greensboro, NC 27405 (336) 375-2575.
