Ethelda Oxley Obituary

Ethelda Harris Oxley

November 16, 1937 - August 11, 2025

Ethelda Harris Oxley, age 87, went to be with her Lord on August 11, 2025 at her home in High Point, NC. She was born on November 16, 1937 in Athens, Ohio, and grew up on a farm in Shade, Ohio. It was there that she met Merrill in grade school. They eloped on February 1, 1957. They enjoyed a humble life filled with love, family, and a strong faith in Jesus Christ.

Family was very important to Ethelda and was lovingly referred to as "Nanny". She had a gift for hospitality which included being an excellent cook. She also loved antiquing.

Ethelda had a sweet and kind disposition and was always patient. She put others first and didn't expect anything in return. She was truly cherished and will be sadly missed by her husband, children, and grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents, Wayne Harris and Nettie Brown Harris and a son, Tom. She is survived by husband, Merrill; brother, Ron Harris (Carol); son, Tim (Anne); daughter, Tammy Sapp (Stan), and daughter in law, Laura who was married to Tom. She is also survived by grandchildren, Steven (Christin), Brittany (Jonathan), Shannon, Grace (Ben), Natalie, Spencer (Kyla), Sam, and 10 great grandchildren.

A special thanks to April Garrett. She provided excellent care for Ethelda in her final months. Also, we would like to thank Hospice of the Piedmont for their care of her.

There will be a private service for family. In lieu of flowers, honor Ethelda's generous spirit by donating to the charity of your choice.

Merrill, Tammy and Tim;
I am grieving the loss of Ethelda. Many years ago, she came into my life and we shared so many great times. She was a loving and stablelizing lady with unshakable faith. I know you will forever feel her influence in your life. With our love, Treva & Martha
