Frances Joyce Obituary

Frances Elaine Munday Joyce, 86, of Pleasant Garden, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, at 3:10 p.m. at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Born on July 10, 1939, Frances was the daughter of the late Ralph A. Munday and Arlene I. Council. She grew up in the Greensboro area alongside her beloved sister, Dorothy Greeson. Frances graduated from Jamestown High School on May 27, 1957.

On September 23, 1990, Frances married the love of her life, Harold "Frank" Joyce. The two shared a devoted marriage until his passing on August 25, 2010.

Frances lived most of her life in Greensboro before moving to Pleasant Garden, where she spent the last seven years residing with her daughter, Valerie Malesh. She was a dedicated mother to her two daughters, Valerie Malesh and Susan Cole, and a cherished grandmother to ten grandchildren and great-grandmother to eighteen great-grandchildren.

For 20 years, Frances was a beloved ballroom dance instructor in the Triad area, sharing her passion for dance with countless students. She also taught for several years at the High Point Elks Club, where her talent and warmth left lasting impressions. Since 1996, Frances was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she nurtured her faith and built lasting friendships.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Frank" Joyce; her parents, Ralph A. Munday and Arlene I. Council; and her sister, Dorothy Greeson. She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Malesh and Susan Cole; ten grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Frances will be remembered for her love of family, her graceful spirit, and the joy she found in dance. Her warmth and generosity touched the lives of everyone who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
